Rajasthan Royals will miss Stokes at the start of IPL
IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals will not get English all-rounder Ben Stokes early in the T20 edition. Because the World Cup winner is currently in New Zealand to stay with his ailing father Gad. Stokes is now considered the best all-rounder in the world. Stokes left for Christchurch in the middle of the Test series against Pakistan last month after his father, a former All Blacks International player, was diagnosed with brain cancer.
As a result, Rajasthan Royals are probably not getting Stokes at the beginning of IPL. The England all-rounder is now in New Zealand to be by the side of his ailing father. He has completed 14 days of compulsory quarantine in New Zealand. This time he will be with his father in difficult times.
The IPL is going to start on September 19. Rajasthan Royals have taken Ben Stokes for Rs 12.5 crore in the auction. There is uncertainty in the Royals camp about when they will get him. According to sources, Rajasthan also feels that it is not possible for Ben, who has just passed the quarantine stage in New Zealand, to join the team early in the IPL. And so the Royals authorities do not want to embarrass him by asking this question. It is thought that Stokes may be asking what he thinks about playing in the IPL.
Stokes, 29, has played six Tests, 95 ODIs, and 26 T20Is for England. He was instrumental in helping England win the World Cup at home last year. He also recently won a singles Test against the West Indies. However, the IPL franchise wants Stokes to play a big role in winning their cup this time.
