Own messaging app. End-to-end encrypted. Talking on the
phone, texting, or sending video or audio messages - in no case is there any
risk of data theft. The Indian Army created such an app for its use. The name
of the app is Secure Application for Internet or SAI for short. It was made by
Colonel Sai Shankar, Commanding Officer, Signal Unit, Rajasthan. The app was
launched by the Ministry of Defense on Thursday.
Other apps, including WhatsApp and Messenger, have
never been so secure. In the past, multiple apps have been accused of
monitoring the Indian Army, stealing information, or smuggling information.
Jawans have been banned from using more than one app in many cases. That is why
this SAI app has been created.
According to the Ministry of Defense, the Sai app is an
end-to-end messaging app. Voice, text, as well as video calls, can be made from
Android phones through the internet. But it is not for the common man. This app
is made for the Indian Army's use. So that the information of the army is not
leaked, the special aspect of security has been emphasized while making the
app. The app is also part of the Army's 'Self-Reliance India' campaign.
In a press release, the Ministry of Defense said,
"The model of this app is similar to other messaging platforms WhatsApp 7,
Telegram and uses end-to-end encryption protocols." SAI is far ahead in
terms of security features with local in-house servers and coding. Which can be
further improved later .'' The app is currently being registered. The
National Informatics Center or NIC is providing the necessary infrastructure
for this app. This app is currently working on the iOS platform.
